ScreamRide: A wild ride

Have you ever wanted to build a better theme park? We’ve all done it, gone to Thorpe Park or Alton Towers and complained about something be it the queues, the lack of adrenaline pumping attractions or general scare factor from rides. Well, Frontier Developments is giving you the chance to prove you’re capable.

ScreamRide is coming exclusively to Xbox One in March 2015, and it’s essentially handing players the toolbox to create the craziest, scariest and most dangerous rides you could possibly imagine. We say dangerous, because ScreamRide doesn't discriminate between creativity and destruction.

Across 50 levels and three gameplay modes Engineer, ScreamRider and Demolition Expert you’ll have the opportunity to showcase and destroy your creations. In Engineering mode you’ll be able to build your own custom thrill rides and put themonto Xbox Live for all to enjoy. In ScreamRider you'll then be able ride and take control of the coasters for the ride of your life before, inevitably, you jump into Demolition Expert and attempt to rack up a huge ‘ScreamRating’ by blowing it all to hell. We imagine we will spend most of our time in Demolition, toppling skyscrapers and immense player made creations with our dedication to causing chaos.

ScreamRide might be the spiritual successor to Roller Coaster Tycoon, but Frontier is doing enough to justify its existence on Xbox One. Its success and longevity will largely be governed by how active its community is. ScreamRide is certainly fun, but whether it can hold player attention well we won’t know that until it launches next  March.
